Jiro Dreams of Sushi
While the weekend has approached leisurely, we thought it appropriate to share a documentary by David Gelb that narrates the story about the world’s (at least for many) best sushi chef.
The 85 year-old Jiro Ono is the owner of Sukiyabashi Jiro, a 10-seat, sushi-only restaurant that is located in a Tokyo subway station and nonchalantly carries 3 Michelin stars.
Ono has changed the sushi world and has an endless amount of admirers coming to visit his exquisite restaurant, begging for reservations many months in advance. However, the heart of the story is Jiro’s relationship with his eldest son Yoshikazu, the worthy heir to Jiro’s legacy, who seems to be unable to live up to his full potential in his father’s shadow.
