Susan Kare was a young artist working on a steel sculpture of a razorback hog when she got offered the job of developing the first fonts for the Mac OS. She then went on to design many of the, er…iconic user interface icons that are the foundation of personal electronics as they look and feel today. The Neurotribes blog has posted some fascinating pages of the graph-ruled sketchbook she used to tease out the original Mac icons, pixel by pixel.
